Amanda Strang - Counsellor and Psychotherapist in Purley CR8

I am a qualified, experienced, Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, registered with the BPC and FPC.

There are many different types of therapy, and it can feel daunting to navigate different approaches, and the titles used (counsellor / psychotherapist) whilst seeking help.

A reliable, ethical, confidential and robust relationship with your therapist in a quiet private space is at the centre of any meaningful therapy - irrespective of the clinical approach, or whether it's counselling or psychotherapy. It's important to trust your instincts, and find the right, registered, non-judgemental person to work with you.

I have over ten years experience of working therapeutically with adults - in private practice, charities and the NHS - with people from diverse backgrounds, facing a broad range of difficulties in their working and personal lives. The lived experience of unexpressed feelings, manifesting as anxiety and depression, can be very difficult to manage alone, or to share with friends, family and partners.

My intention is to listen carefully without judgement to what's troubling you, and we would then work collaboratively to understand and work through uncomfortable thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, as the basis for change - and to develop inner resilience to face life's challenges, now and in the future.

I am experienced in helping people with a wide range of issues, including those listed below, but this isn't a definitive list.

Anxiety
Abuse
Bereavement
Depression
Low self-esteem
Being or becoming a parent
Betrayals, separation and divorce
Childhood trauma.
Stress
Transitions including student life.

My rooms in Purley are 12-15 minutes walking distance from Purley Station. accessible by train from South London including Croydon, Streatham, and Clapham Junction and also east Surrey, including Reigate. I also work online, where appropriate.
